Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund has been created to honor Ron Wilhelm's years of commitment to UNT and the Kappa Delta Pi student organization. All members of the UNT community — faculty, staff, students and friends — can contribute to the fund.
Once the goal of $25,000 has been obtained, the Dr. Ron W. Wilhelm-Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship for $1000 will be distributed every year to a deserving student who is a member of Kappa Delta Pi.

Ron W. Wilhelm, Ph.D. was a professor in the department of Teacher Education and Administration at UNT's College of Education, where he taught courses in multicultural education, curriculum implementation and evaluation, and qualitative research methods for more than 21 years.
From 1992 – 2012, Wilhelm served as counselor for Alpha Iota Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, a student organization dedicated to sustaining an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership and service in global education. He was named Outstanding Faculty Advisor in 2007 by the UNT Student Activities and Organizations Office. Wilhelm also served as principal interviewer in a joint project with Kappa Delta Pi and the UNT Texas Center for Educational Technology to collect the thoughts of leading educators on their work and their views on the status of education in the U. S. today.
Wilhelm was named director of the Center for the Study of Educational Reform in 2004. He is a past president of the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum and the founding president of the Texas Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education. Wilhelm guest edited three special issues of the National Council for the Social Studies journal Social Studies and the Young Learner on teaching about multicultural education, human rights, and Latin America. His publications include two co-authored books, 15 book chapters or sections, and numerous articles in international, national, and regional peer-refereed journals. In 2000, he received a Fulbright Senior Scholar research/lecturer award to the Universidad de Concepción in Chile. In 2003, the University of North Texas recognized him for outstanding teaching and scholarship with the Toulouse Scholars Award. In 2005 he was awarded the International Education Award from the College of Education.
Wilhelm retired from UNT in 2012 and resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Kim Batchelor. He currently serves as president of the Board of Directors of the Organization for the Development of the Indigenous Maya (ODIM), a non-profit organization providing health and educational services to Tz'utujil Maya in the Lake Atitlán region of Guatemala .
